Working Together for our Global Rangelands Future
The Australian Organising Committee of the XII International Rangeland Congress, on behalf of the Australian Rangeland Society and the International Rangeland Congress Continuing Committee, invites you to participate in the International Rangeland Congress to be held June 2-6, 2025 at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide, Australia.
I will be presenting “Grazing management and low-stress herding to prevent livestock predation by grizzly/brown bears: a case study from the Rocky Mountains, USA” on Thursday, June 5.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to speak in the Management of Biodiverse Rangelands session, about applying range management practices to livestock-carnivore conflict prevention. I hope that some of the principles can be applied to other parts of the world and other carnivore species.
The session also featured my fellow Americans Dr. Drew Bennett from the University of Wyoming on virtual fence, and Drs. Janis Boettinger & Gene Schupp from Utah State University on rare endemic plants of the Colorado Plateau; and Kawther Alslash from Saudi Arabia on restoring biodiversity in a hyper-arid ecosystem. The session was chaired by Betsey Boughton of Archbold Biological Station.

I was also pleased to see a poster by my colleagues Lily Fanok, Hailey Wilmer, et al. of the USDA Agricultural Research Service on “Finding Common ground: Collaborative adaptive management for conservation and livestock-based livelihoods in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.”
